#IAMWOMAN is not just another social portrait project; it's a unique initiative created by women for women.

The project is a response to the pervasive 'male gaze' problem in the creation and display of women's photographs. It aims to disrupt this gaze by fostering new approaches to portraiture creation through collaborative making and conversation.

#IAMWOMAN is a project that actively involves women in the creation of photographic portraiture for public spaces. The portraits are the result of our shared time in a semi-structured conversation. The final portraits in the ARTS HOUSE series were displayed as large prints on the exterior windows of Arts House, North Melbourne Town Hall, and other key locations in Errol St North Melbourne in July 2019.

This project is for humans who identify as women, led by women.
